Soren Lenzini is an artist in his second year at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he studies and practices art history and sculpture. Often drawing from urban infrastructure and daily life, Soren is interested in how mysterious, absurd, and beautiful forms and behaviors fall to the background of fast-paced environments. Alongside his artmaking, he is pursuing an art history thesis.
Before taking an interest in sculpture and history, he developed a nationally recognized street and documentary photography practice, photographing Chicago and paying close attention to both political and quotidian spaces and objects. He credits this with his habitual slow looking, an approach to the world foundational to his sculptural work.
Originally from Los Angeles, Soren’s acclimation to Chicago has come by way of artistic immersion, not limited to artmaking, but also exploration of the various spaces, performance venues, and public installations that make Chicago unique.
